BREVE  RESEÑA HISTORICA DE LA   CASA SANTA MARIA ESTRELLA DEL MAR.

 DIOCESIS DE NORWICH, CONNECTICUT

 

“Vayan por todo el mundo y anuncien el evangelio…” (Mateo 28,19)

 

Atendiendo  la urgencia del mandato de Jesús para evangelizar y acompañar a tantos hermanos inmigrantes hispanos en la Diócesis de Norwich, y la necesidad de otra comunidad para confraternizar con las  hermanas de la casa San José en Worcester  surgió la fundación de la casa Santa María en el año 1995, a solicitud de Mons. Thomas Bride, Vicario General.

El 16 de Agosto de 1995 se abre la casa en la Diócesis de Norwich con el nombre de  CASA SANTA MARIA, ESTRELLA DEL MAR,  Situada, por el momento,  al lado de la catedral St. Patrick. En un apartamento de la Diócesis.

Las primeras hermanas Oblatas  en la Diócesis son: Sor Berta Nájera y Sor Irma García,  unos meses después se integra Sor Gloria Saldarriaga y luego Sor María de Los Ángeles Ballestero.

 

La labor apostólica, es la atención a los Inmigrantes  venidos de casi todos los países de América Latina,   persiguiendo el “sueño americano” pero  aquí se sienten solos, sus familias están lejos, no hablan el idioma, el trabajo es duro,  y espiritualmente corren el riesgo de que su fe se enfríe o desaparezca. Además,  muchos de ellos no tienen documentos legales  por  lo que sufren  redadas constantes, la deportación, no  tienen licencia de conducir, ni atención médica, etc.

 

En el año 1999 el Señor les provee a las hermanas una casa  que aunque  un poco vieja (tiene 130 años) fueron  pagando poco a poco. Actualmente (2013) se dan a la tarea de buscar otra casa más nueva y más grande, esperando que  la comunidad crezca, gracias a las oraciones que todas hacemos por las vocaciones.

Qué hacen las hermanas?

Cada una  se desempeña  como  “Asistente Pastoral ” en las siguientes  parroquias:

 

  • Santa María  Estrella del Mar en New London         Sor Leidy Castillo
  • Sagrado Corazón en Willimantic                               Sor Francisca Candelaria
  • Santa María en Norwich                                             Sor Francisca Candelaria
  • San Francisco de Asís en Middletown                        Sor Xinia Rodríguez
  • Santa María de la Visitación en Clinton.                    Sor Irma García

  

 Nuestra Misión es:

  •             Animación de la Eucaristía
  •             Coordinación y formación de catequistas
  •             Catequesis  de niños y  adultos
  •             Formación de Lectores, Acólitos, Ministros de la          Comunión, Coro, etc.
  •             Preparación pre-bautismal
  •             Animación de los diferentes grupos de la comunidad (Renovación Carismática, Neocatecumenado,  CERS,  equipo pastoral,  jóvenes, Movimiento Juan XXII  etc.)
  •             Visitas a: hogares, cárceles, hospitales y hogares de ancianos.
  •             Convivencias, Retiros, Formación de líderes etc.

A congregation of Papal Right, devoted to the apostolic action, whose motto is : “ AD MAIOREM DEI GLORIAM”, was founded by Mother Margherita Diomira Crispi, in Monreale, Sicily, in 1923.

The aim of the Institution is to create a family of consecrated christian to the Trinity .

Antonio Augusto Intreccialagli ( 1852-1924, here on the right ), archbishop of Monreale, ( declared venerable by the Holy Father Giovanni Paolo II with the administrative order of 22.1.1991 ) Mother Margherita and her sisters continue their Work that they began, moving for want of Mons. Intreccialagli to Monreale. At the beginning the seat is in the Church’ places of St. Castrense. Then, it moves to the “Badiella”, where still today is the “Mother House”.
